Lil yogi

I'm not religiously into exercising. But I like doing yoga at times. Thanks to those 'at times' Tv enjoys 'competing' with me and doing padmasana, vajrasana, sukhasana, shavasana (funny - must record a video sometime) and suryanamaskar.
We love singing with and moving to our yoga songs (imported from USA)
But more importantly, my lil yogi is religiously into following 'yoga rules and manners' at the table. (Good for me)

striking a conversation

Today, on our way to school, we bumped into an elderly lady. The lady very polietly said 'hello' to me and then to TV. And TV after visually scanning the lady for a moment or two, waved a hi.

'Where are you going?' asked the lady, seemingly encouraged by TV's friendly gesture.
'Cool,' TV's reply.
'ah?' the lady fumbled at first, but figured it out, 'oh, school? you're going to school?'
'and where are you going?' asked my lil princess.
'Hospital', the lady replied, completely stumped.

Not to add, I was stumped too. That was quick, confident, friendly and a very logical question. But to come from a toddler a little over two years was amusing.

Rhyme - At the lunch table

At the lunch table, we meet
hi, hello
At the lunch table, we greet
good morning, how do you do?
At the lunch table, we sit
At the lunch table, we eat
yum yummmmm

At the lunch table, we sit in a bunch

At the lunch table, we go munch munch,

why, at the lunch table, we eat our lunch.

yum yummmmm

What's TV reading now?

After the Eric Carles and Dr. Suess, we're moving on. TV's current favorite is The Jungle Book.
We've a beautifully illustrated copy of this Walt Disney presentation, thank you Neena for donating it. And TV cant get enough of it.

I read it to her for the first time a month back. And then on and off. Showed her the memorable hindi jungle book jingle on youtube and couple of other snippets from the TV series. And she loves it.

She has to read it almost every morning. Now my helper reads it to her. And TV prides in spotting the animals in the picture and correcting her reader if she's missed a sequence or if she mispronounces the names.

Her favorite sequences are - of bagheera persuading mowgli to leave the jungle, baloo's training mowgli, the monkeys and the baby elephant in Hathi's dawn patrol.

The reading session is more of TV's storytelling spiced up with the 'jungle jungle baat chali hai' recitation.

TVISHA

Give me a T (TV stands with her feet together and hands stretched across)

Give me a V (Hands go over the head in a well, V)'

Give me an I (Feet together and hands down close to the body)

Give me a S (now that's a funny tricky one, we generally just twist our bodies like an S)

Give me a H (Both of us stand connected through one stretched hand)

Give me an A (and both hands go up and join to form an A)

Looks like my girl knows her name well enough. She can pronounce it, spell it and now even demonstarte it and identify and arrange the letters in her name in order.

Yes, last week she actually used the 6 letters and arranged them perfectly, after a lot of thinking and moving the letters around, to make her name. Daddy dear couldnt stop 'priding'. what a moment!

Rhyme - Our way to School

Some kids DRIVE their way to school,
Some kids STRIVE their way to school!

Some kids RIDE their way to school,
Some kids PRIDE their way to school!

Some kids WALK their way to school,
Some kids TALK their way to school!

Some kids RUN their way to school,
Some kids HAVE FUN on their way to school!

Some kids JUMP their way to school,
Some kids BUMP their way to school!

Some kids CRY their way to school,
Some kids SHY their way to school!

But we love to,
DANCE our way to school.

creative sparks

TV is well into digging into her own ears (i mean cleaning them). and she does that pretty carefully - like a pro. in fact she's been doing that since she was 18-19 months.

But this post is not about TV's ear cleaning prowess.

Yesterday, it was her ear-cleaning day. And she had it. The whole box of ear buds to herself. (Doesnt she love to play with them?) and of course a very chirpy and playful mood.

She emptied the whole box of earbuds on the table and started playing (exploring). She'd rub her feet on them, squish squash them with her hands.

Then there was the clean up time. she's supposed to put everything back, else she doesnt get to play with that anymore. So here we were TV as a sporty kid and mom as her default helper.

This time she picked up fist fulls of the buds; a whole lot of them. and insead of putting them in the box, decided to throw them all; up in the air. The act wasnt pretty encouraging for me, but the words that went with the act, made me smile.

'RAIN' she said, looking at the buds fall from the sky:)

well, that's my creative bachcha. But there's more.

Later then when I initiated clean up again, she resisted.
'What now?' I complain
'I want to swim.' TV answers. And before i can say anything adds, 'in the puddles'

And swim she did, in the puddles of the buds:)
